While an ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ student, Captain Rothrock honed his shooting skills in ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s renowned Military Department. He also admirably served his country during World War I, and even received a commendation letter from U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt for winning a national shooting competition.
At the 1920 Summer Olympics, he won a gold medal in a team shooting event, and a silver medal in an individual shooting event. The United States won the most gold and overall medals in the 1920 games.
Captain Rothrock eventually moved back to Ada, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, where he died in 1938 at age 52, just a few days before he was set to retire from the U.S. Army.
